Master the fundamentals of finding your way. This course is delivered in two parts, beginning with a deep dive into the essentials of primitive navigation.
What You’ll Learn
In this initial classroom session, we cover the core mechanics of orienteering, including:
Primitive Navigation: Master the foundational skills of direction finding.
Pace Counting: Learn how to accurately track distance on foot.
Azimuth Calculations: Understand how to plot and follow precise bearings.
Gear & Equipment
A lensatic compass is the preferred tool for this course. While we provide traditional compasses for those who need them, please note that using a lensatic model will make the curriculum significantly easier to follow and execute.
Session #2 will be a practical in the field.
