Nineteenth Century School Day March 7, 2020

Students of all ages gathered this August 2008 afternoon in the re-created Salt Springs One-Room Schoolhouse for reading, writing, and 'rithmatic lessons conducted by Mistress Sara Doane.
Letters were first practiced on slates.
And then at the chalkboard.
For craft time, students made thaumatropes. This young lady tested her reading skills with the directions.
The day ended with some students, like these, playing a game of Hide the Slipper. Others played hopscotch.
